Get to know Office 365

For your email, calendar, file storage and more 

As an Essex student, you get a free subscription to Office 365 for the duration of your studies. This gives you access to apps including:

  • Outlook – for your email and calendar. Your timetable is automatically syncd to your Outlook calendar.
  • OneDrive – for saving your work in the cloud.
  • OneNote – great for taking notes in lectures.
  • Office online – create and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in your web browser.

Sign in to Office 356 with your Essex email address and password. On a mobile? Get the free Outlook app for your phone or tablet.

 

Download Microsoft Office, for free!

As part of your free Office 365 subscription, you can download the latest version of Microsoft Office for free on up to five devices. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to Office 365 with your Essex email address and password.
  2. Choose the App launcher (the squares icon in the top-left of your screen) and then choose Office 365 →, and then Install Office.

If you can't see the Install Office button please contact the IT Helpdesk.

 

Get connected to 'eduroam' wifi when you’re on campus

Our campus wifi network is called eduroam. It’s free to use and is available all over campus, except in student accommodation. To connect:

  1. Choose eduroam from your available wifi networks.
  2. Enter your Essex email address for the username or identity, and your Essex password for the password.

IT labs and laptops for you to use on campus

IT labs

There are hundreds of computers for you to use on campus, conveniently located in IT labs and study spaces, with many open 24 hours a day.

Laptop loans

If you prefer being mobile, you can loan a laptop from the Library for up to 3 hours, for free.

 

Printing on campus

You can print, scan and photocopy, for free, at any of our multi-function printers.

Our printers are conveniently located across our campuses and you’ll need your Essex student registration card to tap and log in to the printer.
