Faith Centre update

Supporting our students and staff

In-person religious, faith services and gatherings can now take place on Colchester campus in rooms bookable via A Risk Assessment for the Faith Centre has been completed in line with the University of Essex policy and guidance on COVID-19. This has been endorsed by the Business Continuity Group. This will continue to be kept under review. Students and staff booking the rooms will be required to follow this Risk Assessment.

The following can take place to support students and staff in the provision of faith support

  • Live-streaming by Chaplain or Faith Society.
  • Group worship for groups up to 30 people.
  • Face-to-face appointments with a Chaplain.
  • Because of anticipated limited capacity this in person support will be restricted to staff and students .

Additional support can be offered to students and staff in the form of phone calls or text messages, email-based support and chaplains may be able to physically post resources, such as weekly prayers/ reflections.

It is a difficult time for us all. Many of us will feel afraid. Many will also be dealing with very challenging situations. Everyone connected with the Faith Centre wishes to continue to provide spiritual and pastoral support to students and staff during this period. We invite you to get in touch with us. We are here to help and support you. You don’t have to be religious or want to pray to ask for support from us.

Find out where you can get support from our Faith Centre. Please see the main University of Essex events page for details of all events including those linked to the Faith Centre.
