The University, as an employer mindful of the welfare of all its staff, is concerned that the use of alcohol and/or drugs by their employees should not impair their social life. Moreover, to the extent that the misuse of alcohol or drugs may have a detrimental effect on the employee’s attendance and work performance, the interests of the University and its other employees.
The University has considered it appropriate to draw up an Alcohol and Drug Policy (.pdf). This has been done in consultation with the campus Trade Unions, who have given this policy their full support.
Within the policy, managers and individuals will find information on how the University will assist and what support will be provided. Further information for managers can be found in the Alcohol and Drugs Manager Guidance (.pdf).
If you have any concerns please address them to your Employee Relations Adviser who will offer confidential guidance and support.
