  • Starting a PhD in a different field to my undergraduate degree

I completed my master's degree in physics, astrophysics and cosmology in 2021, looking at how noise in gravitational wave detectors could affect the detection of gravitational waves. I changed disciplines to data science thereafter. I am now completing a PhD in data science at the University and I am partnered with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars (RRMC) and based at their head office in Goodwood. I am researching into various ways statistics and machine learning can be applied to lower volume data, while collecting and processing new data sources and providing brand new insights. I use Python, and I am gradually picking up R for these analyses, using background knowledge from my undergraduate, as well as training from the first year of my PhD.
