Profile

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer of Management and a member of the Management and Marketing Subject Group at Essex Business School. My research interests lie in the field of Management and Organisation Studies. I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary and qualitative research, specialising in alternative forms of organisation and organising. My research interests extend to a range of management related topics such as the organisation of space and commoning, employees’ wellbeing, employees’ emotions and attitudes to work, and identity work. My research draws from sociology, philosophy, political theory, urban studies and human geography. In recent years, most of my publications and works in progress are based on collaborations with cooperatives, social clinics and other social enterprises and networks. At present, I am a Co-Investigator in an educational programme titled: "Joining Social Economy Forces towards Community development, Connected societies, Co-creation of knowledge and Collaborative education practices / SE 4Ces". The programme is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ call on ‘Knowledge Alliance’ to promote Social Economy education. For more information about this project please visit: https://socialeconomy4ces.auth.gr/. Prior to this project, I was a co-investigator in an 18-months consultancy project funded by the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association (CABA), aiming to provide an in-depth understanding of current and former ICAEW members’ willingness and apprehension to utilise the wellbeing services offered by CABA. I am also a Fellow in HEA and my teaching and supervision expertise covers a range of areas associated with management, organisation studies, cooperative studies and social entrepreneurship. I am interested in supervising PhD students across any of these areas, and particularly interested in topics related to: • Alternative forms of organisation and organising • Workers’ cooperatives • Cooperative health care and health commons • Social movements and solidarity initiatives • The social organisation of space • Employees' emotions and attitudes to work • Wellbeing and wellness programmes
