Our Experience Essex Online event is the perfect opportunity for you to learn more about studying at Essex. This event is for anyone who is interested in studying an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
We'll focus on helping you prepare for results day, as well as how to apply to Essex through Clearing.
In this session you will receive a warm welcome from the University, as well as an overview of live and on-demand sessions available during the day. This session will give you the insider info on how to get the most out of your experience.
10.30 - Student Accommodation
In this session we'll talk about the accommodation we have available for students. There will be an introduction from our Accommodation Essex Team (who run all of our accommodation on campus) as well as panel featuring students who live in different types of accommodation we have on campus.
11.30 - Preparing for results day
In this session we will cover what to expect on results day (Thursday 18 August) and give you some tips on how you can best prepare for the big day.
12.00 - What is clearing, and how to apply through clearing
This session will cover the different clearing applications routes, including clearing application call and a run through of how to use our online application form.
12.30 - Virtual campus tour
In this session we will guide you through our virtual campus tour, pointing out some key features of our campus and giving you the chance to ask questions along the way.
13.00 - Student life - UG Student Panel
This session will be led by our undergraduate students. They'll discuss why they decided to study at Essex and why they think you should study with us too!
14.00 - Student Skills - moving away from home
In this session, one of our current students will talk about the skills they have learnt since being and living at university; including budgeting, meal planning and socialising.
14.30 - Essex Pathways - Have you considered a foundation year?
This session introduces our foundation year degrees, explaining what these are and what they involve and the benefits of studying one.
15.00 - Transitioning to Undergraduate study
In this session we will cover the differences between college level study and undergraduate study, the academic support we offer our students and how you can prepare for undergraduate study.
15.30 - Study Abroad
This session is for anyone who is interested in studying abroad at a different university in another country during their degree. We'll discuss the partnerships we have with other universities around the world, and will describe the application process to apply to study abroad at another university during your degree. We'll also have a panel of students who'll discuss their experience of studying abroad.
16.00 - Employability: Student Development at Essex
In this session we'll discuss the employability modules which are embedded into many of our courses, the work placement opportunities which are optional for some courses, as well as the student development services that the University provides in order to improve the employability of all out students.
16.30 - Student Support and Wellbeing at Essex
In this session we'll introduce you to the support and wellbeing services that we have available for our students, both in-person and online. We will be joined by our Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Team as well as our VP Welfare from the Student’s Union.
17.30 - Why Essex? Student Panel (PG)
This session will be led by our postgraduate students. They'll discuss why they decided to study at Essex and why they think you should study with us too!
18.00 - Student Finance (UG)
In this session we'll talk about how you can finance your studies as an undergraduate student. We'll cover who is eligible for loans and bursaries how you can make an application for student finance, and we'll go over a range of Frequently Asked Questions. You'll be able to ask your own questions via the online chat function.

18.30 - Information session for Mature Learners
This session has been specifically created for mature students (a mature student at undergraduate level is someone who is over the age of 21). In this session we'll discuss alternative routes into education, student finance that's available for mature learners, the support services available for mature learners, as well as student development and employability.
18.30 - Guidance for Parents and Guardians
This session is designed for parents, guardians and carers of other people who are planning to study at Essex in 2022 or beyond. The content will be tailored specifically to give you the information you need and advice on how you can support your young person on results day (Thursday 18 August).
Throughout the day - International offer holder briefing and pre-departure webinar sessions
These sessions are designed for our International Offer Holders. We will cover information on arriving in the UK and at Essex, our approach to study for 2022-23, visas and much more.
