The University of Essex belongs to the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) which is an ESRC-funded Doctoral Training Partnerships, which promotes inventive and inclusive social science research training and collaboration, and awards funded SeNSS Studentships.

CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership

The University, along with six partner institutions, is a member of CHASE: Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England, which has been awarded £17m from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to fund PhD studentships over a five year period.

Applicants for a PhD Sociology can apply to CHASE for AHRC studentships through our Department. Funding covers fees, maintenance and professional development opportunities during your PhD.
