Industry-engaged education
Studying with the Edge Hotel School at Essex can give you the knowledge and skills to work in high-profile organisations in the widest range of sectors and countries. Our undergraduate courses have been developed with industry for industry and provide you with the employable skills needed to succeed in the real-world.
The Professional Performance Assessment (PPA) which takes the form of a mock interview is used throughout our courses to allow you to reflect, practise and improve your interview skills before embarking on interviews for your first graduate role.
Many industry experts deliver master classes to support your development. The annual Edge Hotel School careers fair welcomes a range of hospitality organisations giving you the chance to network and engage with future employers.
Hands-on experience
All of our undergraduates undertake experience in a real 4* hotel, Wivenhoe House. This work experience gives you the chance to put your academic knowledge into practice and gain valuable skills to add to your CV.
In response to the COVID19 pandemic, the Edge Hotel School developed a substantial suite of industry-engaged virtual activities to substitute practical experience during the periods in which the hotel was inaccessible.
The Level 6 Project connects our students directly with a hospitality or events organisation. The consultancy project for hospitality and hotel management students enables you to work on a project or problem for an external client. Past consultancy projects have included social media and marketing strategies, brand development and new hotel launches. The Level 6 Events Management Project is your opportunity to organise a live event for an external client from start to finish during the final level of your course. Many Edge Hotel School students have been offered job opportunities with their Level 6 Project clients having proven themselves to such a high level.
Our students have also embarked on additional self-organised work experience placements with the likes of Shangri-La The Shard, Red Carnation Hotels and Marriott by utilising the industry connections available through the School.
