Our events

Showcasing specialist research

From small internal seminars to large-scale research conferences and presentations, the Essex Finance Centre showcases the very latest cutting-edge research. One of the main activities of the EFiC is to invite leading researchers in finance, banking and financial econometrics to present state-of-the-art theoretical and empirical research in short workshops and in our regular seminars series.

Since 2016 the EFiC has grown its international reputation thanks to the organisation the annual Conference in Banking and Finance. EFiC’s objective is to inspire excellent research and to promote a culture that welcomes diverse views.

Inspiring excellent research

With our events we have been able to:

  • Attract distinguished speakers from all over the world to present their research findings.
  • Offer our delegates the opportunity to submit their work to Special Issues of international, highly reputed journals, including the British Journal of Management, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Financial Services Research.
  • Debate and openly discuss, through panels and roundtables, a variety of topics of great significance, such as small businesses’ access to finance, the sustainability of organisations, and gender and diversity in banking.
  • Connect to and collaborate with policy-makers and industry practitioners.
  • Ringfence dedicated sessions for research students.
  • Offer delegates and guest speakers many opportunities to meet, connect and network in a friendly environment

Past events have been supported by various bodies, including the Bank of England, the British Academy, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Money, Macro Finance Society (MMF).
