Mentoring

Mentoring aims to raise aspirations, demystify higher education and provide advice on Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE). The University of Essex has twenty five undergraduate students acting as e-mentors for Year 10 pupils. The e-mentoring lasts for twelve months, during this time mentors will support mentees via specialised e-mail software. There is an initial face to face meeting at the start of the programme and a briefing evening for mentees and their parents. At the end of the scheme there is an event at the University of Essex for the mentees so they can experience 'real' student life.
