Higher Education Talks

We can come to your school/college and give presentations on a range of different issues including;

  • Why go to university – Highlighting the benefits of Higher Education and why students should think about going to university.
  • Choosing a course and a university – A detailed look at how students should go about finding the course and university that is right for them.
  • UCAS applications – In depth instructions about the UCAS process and how students should approach their applications.
  • Personal statements – Focusing on the personal statement section of the UCAS application and helping students to identify what makes a good personal statement.
  • Student life – Showing what it’s like to be a student (often delivered by one of our students) concentrating on how it’s different from school or work and how fantastic an experience it is.
  • What admissions tutors look for – As we work closely with the Admissions team we are able to give detailed presentations on what admissions tutors look for and how students can prepare their applications and interview skills to ensure they get the best offers.
  • Student finance and budgeting – An overview of the current costs involved in getting a degree, a run down of the support available and tips as to how to adapt to living on a student budget.
  • UCAS extra and clearing – Introduces students to the UCAS extra process and clearing, giving them a greater understanding of what they can do if they change their minds about a course, if they receive no offers, if they apply very late in the application cycle or if they don’t get the grades they were hoping for.
  • Socially adapting to university – University is a very different experience from being at school or in an office. This talk focuses on how to make the most of your time at university and how to settle in as quickly as possible.
  • Interviews and open days – Interviews and open days are important parts of the application process, and this talk shows students how to prepare properly for a university interview and how to use open days as a tool to find the perfect university for them.
  • Mock interviews – To help students hone their interview technique we run sessions of mock interviews in schools helping students to understand what a university interview is all about.

These talks can be tailored to students studying A-Levels, International Baccalaureate, BTECs or Access courses and can last between twenty minutes to over an hour.
