The University is doing much to attract postgraduate students, from around the world. This morning workshop provides a forum for supervisors to discuss and review the provision of support and guidance that they can give to their overseas students who may need additional help to settle in and adjust to life in the UK.
 


Target Audience
 

This workshop is aimed at new and experienced supervisors who wish to consider ways to effectively support and supervise their international students.
 

Learning outcomes
 

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
 
  • Welcome and help postgraduate students from overseas to orientate and begin to study effectively in the UK
  • Appreciate the importance of different student expectations and the need to clarify roles and responsibilities
  • With colleagues on the workshop, develop a range of strategies for both avoiding and responding to international student difficulties
