Undergraduate Courses in English Language, Linguistics & TEFL

Male student writingContents

The structure of our undergraduate degrees in English Language and Linguistics is extremely flexible. The successful completion of a first year curriculum normally entitles you to proceed to one of a range of BA degree schemes, and in some cases it is possible to study a foreign language an an integral component of every scheme, or to follow courses in a different discipline (e.g. Sociology) in each of the three years you are here.

Without exception, our curricula provide the opportunity to acquire a range of key skills and, increasingly, students are able to benefit from a variety of types of assessment (e.g. class tests, essays, group work, individual research projects, closed examinations). Our standard admissions offer is 300 points including BB at A-level (see entry requirements). All our courses are suitable both for students who have an A-level in English and for those who do not.
