Masters Courses

Female student in Ivor Crewe BuildingThe Department currently offers more than 20 specialist taught graduate courses, all of which are offered on the Colchester campus. Our MA degrees typically consist of eight one-term modules assessed by coursework and a dissertation, with no exams. The flexible modular structure means that our MAs can be followed on a 12-month full-time basis, a 24-month part-time basis or a discontinuous 'sandwich' basis (MA in Linguistic Studies only) over several years.

For those who already have an idea of what they want to research, but need relevant training, we also offer the one year MRes which incorporates supervision alongside taught components from the start. The first year of the Integrated New Route PhD is identical to MRes.
