British Journal of Political Science

Front cover of the British Journal of Political ScienceOur Department hosts The British Journal of Political Science (BJPolS) which is co-edited by Kristian Skrede Gleditsch, Bob Goodin and Hugh Ward from the department. The journal covers developments across a wide range of countries and specialisms. Contributions are drawn from all fields of political science, including:

  • political theory,
  • political behaviour,
  • public policy and
  • international relations

Articles from scholars in related disciplines (sociology, social psychology, economics and philosophy) appear frequently. With a reputation established over nearly 40 years of publication, the British Journal in Political Science (BJPolS) is widely recognised as one of the premier journals in its field.

The Brian Barry Prize - a new prize in political science

Beginning in 2014, the British Academy will award a prize in honour of Brian Barry, a distinguished Fellow of the Academy and founding editor of the journal.

The prize, valued at £2,500, will be awarded annually for excellence in political science, as displayed in an essay submitted for the prize that has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
