Essex Business School

The Essex MBA

University of Essex

Applications

Applications for the full-time, part-time and modular courses can now be completed online for September 2014 entry.

Applying to do an MBA is a big decision, and we believe our MBA stands up to the high demands of top quality applicants. The drop down section below shows the stages of the application process between your initial decision and arriving at Essex Business School.

If you've already submitted your application, congratulations! You're already at stage 5 in the process, with only a few more steps to go until we can welcome you on campus for your first day as one of our highly prized MBA students! We look forward to meeting you in September.

  • 1. Research the best business school for your MBA

Whatever your reasons for choosing to study for an MBA, you've undoubtedly arrived at the best choice through careful consideration of your options.

The Essex MBA is an exciting and innovative course that will be run from our new building.

  • 2. Find out how to apply

Once you've given it some thought, made your choice, you now need to work out how to apply.  Our MBA application page is informative and will send you to the online application process.

  • 3. Apply

Our application process is completed online.  You can take your time creating your application, as it will save your progress so you can return to it later.  You'll see a progress indicator showing how far you have already completed your application e.g. Status: 70% complete. You'll be asked about the following:

    • Postgraduate study details
    • Fees and sources of finance
    • Academic qualifications
    • English language
    • Academic references
    • Document upload

After all stages of the application are complete, you are able to review your completed application and make any changes to any part of it.  It is possible to submit the application with no documents uploaded, if they are going to be sent separately.

You'll be sent a confirmation email with a link to register for myEssex for Applicants portal, where you can track the progress of your application.  You'll need your email address and your postgraduate number that is sent in the confirmation email.

  • 4. Your Scholarship

Congratulations, you've already applied for your scholarship!

All applications are automatically considered at the time of application, so there is no need to apply seperately for a scholarship.

  • 5. Your account

When you create your application, you will be issued with an application number, which is your unique reference number with us.

You can use this to log into your account on our applicant web pages myEssex applicant portal at any time.

  • 6. Your offer

Graduate Admissions aim to let you know within three weeks, usually sooner, of your offer. This confirmation of offer is sent to you electronically. If we offer you a place, you will be able to view and download your offer letter from your myEssex portal within 24 hours of a decision being made.

Don't worry, we will send you an e-mail with instructions on this at the time.

  • 7. Accept your offer

You should use myEssex to accept your offer and to keep us informed of any changes to your contact details by updating them online, in case we need to get in touch with you before you arrive.

  • 8. From Overseas?

Overseas (non EEA*) Postgraduate Students are required to pay a Tuition fee deposit. Once this is paid, you will be issued with a CAS (Confirm Acceptance of Studies) reference number which they will need to enter on your Visa Application.

*The EEA includes EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows them to be part of the EU’s single market. Switzerland is neither an EU or EEA member but is part of the single market - this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the UK as other EEA nationals.

  • 9. Home student or EU?

If you are an EU or EEA* student (check here for your country: http://www.gov.uk/eu-eea) are not required to pay a tuition fee deposit at this stage.

  • 10. When to pay

In the week beginning 5th May 2014 (after May Bank holiday) the online payment facility goes live and Graduate Admissions email all applicants with this information. You can pay via this system at any point up to your arrival.

  • 11. How to pay

Tuition fees can be paid in full at the start of the academic year or in three equal instalments in October, January and April.

  • 12. Accommodation

All full-time, fully registered, MBA students studying at Colchester or Southend campuses are guaranteed single accommodation for their first year of study, provided they return their application and £250 pre-payment deposit by the deadline date 31 July 2014.

Find out more about our accommodation facilities at our campuses.  Applications for accommodation open in April 2014.

  • 13. Enrolling

After the 1st week in August you officially become a student. Congratulations!

  • 14. Turn up
